Motor skills are integral to all aspects of life; the following six are the most common to train within a fitness scenario. However, motor skills are a huge part of human development. Motor skills break down into two groups, Global and Fine, each dealing with more significant movements like walking and smaller movements like grasping and manipulating, respectively. Motor skills improve with practice, with A well-rounded athlete working to improve each of the six equally.

Balance is stabilising your body, whether standing still or maintaining motion.

This is the capacity to change course, controlling the direction and position of your body while maintaining momentum.

Coordination describes the synchronisation of your senses, including proprioception, and your body parts to enhance motor skills.

Reaction time measures how swiftly you interpret and then react to expected and unexpected events happening around you.

Speed is the ability to move your body swiftly under control.

Power is the combination of both speed and muscular force. This also includes deceleration ability.ย
